Our Vision

The vision of KIPP North Carolina is to become the state’s highest-performing rural and urban public school system, one in which students and alumni achieve transformative life outcomes, all supported by an anti-racist, sustainable, and aligned support organization.

We are committed to creating classrooms that are homeplaces where our students feel safe, loved, validated, seen, and heard, with their beautiful identities affirmed and celebrated. All our classrooms are places where all our students experience belonging.

We are also committed to supporting all our students in engaging critically with grade-level content and in broadly applying what they learn. As a result, our vision is that our students are exceeding EOG/EOC scores of their peers around the state.

A Tradition of Academic Excellence

KIPP NC builds on a rich tradition of academic excellence and a relentless fight for social justice from the founding of both KIPP Eastern North Carolina (ENC) and KIPP Charlotte. KIPP ENC is the second oldest KIPP region in the nation, founded in 2001. In its 20 years of operation, KIPP ENC has been a cornerstone for students and families in rural Northampton and Halifax Counites. In recent years, KIPP ENC has grown to serve even more students by opening up a school in Durham. KIPP Charlotte, which grew out of the strong traditions and academics of KIPP ENC, has supported students and families for the past decade and a half.
