Schools Filled with Love

The vision of KIPP North Carolina is to become the state’s highest-performing rural and urban public school system, one in which students and alumni achieve transformative life outcomes, all supported by an anti-racist, sustainable, and aligned support organization.

We are committed to creating classrooms that are homeplaces where our students feel safe, loved, validated, seen, and heard, with their beautiful identities affirmed and celebrated. All our classrooms are places where all our students experience belonging.

We are also committed to supporting all our students in engaging critically with grade-level content and in broadly applying what they learn. As a result, our vision is that our students are exceeding EOG/EOC scores of their peers around the state.

Rigorous, Joy-Filled Days for Students

At KIPP North Carolina, we start each school day with three goals in mind: every student feels truly loved and cared for, learning is both rigorous and joyful, and students are prepared for success in college, career, and beyond. We do this through rigorous academics, a focus on joy and love, and a school day that sets up every student for success.

Our Elementary Schools

KIPP NC elementary schools develop the strong foundation that prepares all our students to flourish in middle and high schools. Each school day at KIPP North Carolina elementary schools includes a foundational literacy skills block, a separate phonemic awareness block, a reading comprehension block, a math block (in both teacher-led small groups and digital groups), an enrichment block, recess, meals, and many opportunities for relationship-building along the way.

Our Middle Schools

KIPP NC middle schools develop the strong foundation that prepares all our students to flourish in high school, college, career, and beyond. Each middle school day at KIPP North Carolina includes a foundational literacy skills block, a reading block, a math block (in both teacher-led small groups and digital groups), a science block, a social studies block, an enrichment block, recess, meals, and many opportunities for relationship-building along the way.

Pride High

Located in Gaston, KIPP NC’s high school serves the students and families of eastern North Carolina. For the past decade and a half, Price High has launched hundreds of students’ trajectories to college and career. Unique among all high schools in the area, Pride High prepares ALL our students for college and career, not just some. There are no special applications to complete for admissions, and there are no special GPAs prerequisites.

At Pride High, we believe in each and every student and the life potential each of them holds that we must help ignite. Every aspect of Pride High is designed to cultivate the skills, mindsets, and knowledge students need to successfully navigate the demands of college and career.

Census data show that, because of Pride High, the percentage of Gaston-area residents holding bachelor’s degrees has doubled over the past decade.

Pride High is accredited by AdvancED and offers a comprehensive college preparatory course of study, including AP coursework across all content areas and opportunities to enroll in dual enrollment at Halifax Community College.
